The South Australian Museum's expedition to Strzelecki and Coopers Creek took place during 1916 and was aimed at gathering natural history specimens for study and display. Expedition members Edgar Ravenswood Waite (see AA 356) and Captain Samuel Albert White (see AA365) took a series of photographs documenting the expedition. The subjects of these photographs include birds, reptiles, insects, natural scenery as well as local inhabitants of the areas they travelled to and Australian Aboriginal people. The South Australian Museum Archive holds 209 photographs, most were taken by Waite, and the few taken by White and are labeled accordingly.
