Australian Polar Collection Research
Further work is being carried out into the expeditions of all three polar leaders, and also extends to non-polar expedition areas of relevance to the collections.
Mawson utilised ex-polar equipment on Outback field trips, as well as keeping detailed geological diaries – currently being transcribed – for the duration of his university work on these 'expeditions' as he termed them. Specific areas of interest at present include the polar newspaper genre, heroic era survival issues, as well as revisiting historic sites relating to these leaders and their collections.
