Images of the Interior

See these poignant photographs of Central Australia, taken from 1890s to 1940s. The images from the South Australian Museum Archives show the reality of the Australian frontier, the society and fragility of our red centre. The exhibition closes on Sunday 26 June 2011.

Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize™ Gala Launch

Be part of the glamour at the black-tie gala launch of the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize™ on Friday 15 July 2011. Purchase your tickets now on 08 8207 7377 to see the presentation of winners, and have the first opportunity to purchase artworks. Tickets are $125 each. All proceeds of ticket sales support the Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize™.

Information Centre

The Information Centre on Level 1 of the museum will be closed throughout June for renovations, and will reopen in July. Information Centre staff can still be contacted on 08 8207 7404 or by asking for them at the Security Desk.

Whyalla Community Day

Talk to South Australian Museum experts at Black Point, Whyalla on Saturday 18 June from 9am to 12noon. Learn about biodiversity and talk to scientists about collecting specimens. This is a free event.

Night at the Museum

Join the Friends of Mawson for a special night at the South Australian Museum on Sunday 19 June at 5:15pm. Enjoy a guided tour of the Mawson Gallery by experts in polar history, geology and education. Suitable for ages 15 and up. Refreshments provided. Entry is free but bookings are essential on 08 8207 7574.
