Help us care for our youngest visitors.
Please support our Young Explorers.
All of us learn throughout our lives. It starts from the day we are born.
At the South Australian Museum we understand that the early years of life are the most important for learning. We know too that Museums are special places because they offer a dynamic opportunity to expose children to experiences and explore new things in a rich and educational environment. And that this unique exposure provides the foundation for creativity, critical thinking, and connection to the world around them.
We feel extremely fortunate to have been trusted by generations of South Australian families to help nurture children’s curiosity in science, culture, and the natural world.
The Museum provides a free monthly Young Explorers program for our youngest visitors (ages 3-5 yrs). Created over many years by educational and creative experts, and influenced deeply by Reggio Emilia theory, the program builds children’s skills and understanding through play and stories. It also helps to give parents, grandparents and carers the skills to interpret the Museum and the natural world with their children.
Young Explorers provides a rich, fun and often beautiful experience that inspires children. We see how children learn about themselves, other people and the world around them, and play an active role in their own learning and development.
This summer, I urge you to consider how you can help to ensure the Museum continues to provide our youngest visitors with a sense of wonder. Please support our Young Explorers appeal to help us keep the stories going for the next generation of South Australians.
