Dogs have been a much-loved part of our lives since we began to domesticate them more than 10,000 years ago, but how much do we actually know about our four-legged friends?

This year, the South Australian Museum will unveil our new exhibition Dogs: a story of our best friend.

Learn how dogs turned from wolves into our playful pals, explore what the world looks, smells and sounds like to them and find out why they behave the way they do.

Congratulations to the winners of our Pet Paw-trait Prize competition, held at the Royal Adelaide Show! In first place came Milla Greer, who has won a pet portrait prize from Fluff and Stuff pet photography, to the value of $1,000. Runner up Olivie Sloan won a family Museum Membership to the value of $99 and second runner up Graham Riley has won a pass for the Museum’s new adventure game, the Shadow Initiation, to the value of $49.

Stay tuned for more great competitions, on offer during the Dogs exhibition.
