Manggan: gather, gathers, gathering is an exhibition of cultural works from the Girringun Aboriginal Corporation. The corporation represents nine tribal groups in Far North Queensland – the Nywaigi, Gugu Badhun, Warrgamay, Warungnu, Bandjin, Girramay, Gulnay, Jirrbal and Djiru people. This area extends roughly south from El Arish to Rollingstone, south west to the Clarke River, North to the Mission Beach area, west to Ravenshoe and east to include Hinchinbrook and the Family Group Islands.

In seven years of operations, the artists working with the Girringun Aboriginal Art Centre have gained national and international reputations for their work. The artists are represented in major institutions throughout Australia including the National Gallery of Australia, National Museum of Australia, the Parliament House Art Collection, Queensland Art Gallery, National Gallery of Victoria, the British Museum and many other major private and institutional art collections.

This exhibition presents a unique, vibrant and evolving rainforest culture: the people, the art and the creativity.
