Paul was born at Point Pass June 16 1898 the youngest of 12 children of Wilhelm Gottlieb Scholz and Marie Elizabeth (nee Pfeiffer). He was educated at the Immanuel Lutheran School Point Pass.

They established a farm at Buchanan of 400acres and share farmed at the Dutton property Anlaby Station.

They had 4 children, 2 sons Eric and Hedley and 2 daughters Myra and Joan. They attended the Lutheran Church at Julia. They had a great interest in mission work. They both said it was a highlight in their life. They visited Hermannsburg Mission and went on a camel trip for 11 days with an Aboriginal guide by the name of Dudley and 4 camels. They left for Glen Helen in the MacDonnell Ranges and also travelled to Palm Valley by camel. On both trips covered 230 miles on camels. They really appreciated the scenery and rock formations on the trips. They respected the camels too as neither of them had ridden a camel before.

They made trips to Beltana, Marree, Horeshoe Bend, Kopperamana, Lake Killalpaninna etc to visit their Aboriginal friends.

They retired from the farm in 1963 and went back to Tanunda joining the Langmeil Church and both taking an active part in the Churches activities.
