This series comprises six black and white (b/w) photographs that depict the filming of feature film 'Bitter Springs' in the Flinders Ranges, South Australia in 1949. Australian Aboriginal people were brought from Ooldea to participate in the film. The photographs show Australian Aboriginal men and the last item in the series shows a European man and boy seated with some Australian Aboriginal men. Note that these photographs show unidentified people and places. The prints are stored unmounted in a binder titled 'AA 1 Aborigines' Friends' Association (AFA) Photographic Prints, Album 3 of 4'.
South Australian Museum archivist Kay L Mead described this series in 1980. In her listing she recorded the caption 'Quorn' for this series, probably taken from the annotations. This caption has been retained as the 'Series Title' and has been listed in the 'Details' field of the inventory along with the annotations found on the prints. There is also a later annotation separate from the photographs placed at the beginning of the series which describes the photographs as being '..on location for filming of "Bitter Springs" 1949, ..'. This is depicted by photograph AA 1/50/5, which clearly shows a cine camera in the image. All place names and proper names from the annotations and caption have been indexed.
The series was part of Acc. No. 86.
