1. Photograph 35.8.16: '1) still young and childish. 2) young man - just taken wife - fine type of man. 3) rather slow and languid. 4) mentally a little older than I but finds life rather fun. They are all initiated men - probably all under 20 years.'

Description: Group photograph Hackett standing with four Australian Aboriginal men, each with long spear and spear thrower. All have hair string around forehead. Three of them wear a 'belt' around the waist, second right has a stick through his nose.
