A series of seven notebooks, numbered IV-X, dated 27 March 1971 to 24 May 1971.

These notebooks are a running diary/commentary on the "Island Melanesia" expedition in 1971 by Graeme Pretty and Anthony Crawford.

The period from 25 February 1971 to 15 April 1971 is described in "General Journals" numbered 1-3 (AA255/14/21/1-3). The overlap period, 27 March 1971 to 15 April 1971, is described in both AA255/14/21/1-3 and AA255/14/22/1-7.

The notebooks numbered V (from page 15) to X have been transcribed - refer file named "Graeme Pretty - Island Melanesia 1971 - Daily Jottings Books V to X.docx" saved at "R:\Archives\AA 255 PRETTY, GL\Graeme Pretty - Island Melanesia - 1971". The pages transcribed start from 15 April 1971 as the period before this date is covered in the three notebooks in AA255/14/21/1-3. Thus Volume IV and the first 15 pages of Volume V are not transcribed in this document.
