Island Melanesia Expedition, 1971

These images are a collection of 35mm colour slides, black-and-white photographs, 35mm black-and-white negatives and black-and-white contact prints from the expedition to "Island Melanesia" in 1971. The photographers were Graeme Pretty and Anthony Crawford.

    This series of images show different parts of the process in the preparation of laplap. Lap lap is a baked pudding. It is made up of grated yam, banana, manioc, or taro that is mixed with coconut milk and salt, wrapped up in banana leaves, then baked under hot stones (information from Wikipedia).
