Several collections of 35mm slides, both colour and black and white, grouped together by subject.
Most were compiled by Graeme Pretty from various sources/photographers but some also have Graeme Pretty's name as the photographer.
Most of the images are from Papua New Guinea but there are others from Torres Strait, "Melanesia" and various Polynesian countries, as well as a small number from Indonesia, South East Asia and Africa.

(a) PF Lawson (8 images, October 1964). Examples of the use of stone - arrow heads, axes and adzes from various locations in Papua New Guinea.
(b) MJ Tyler (3 images, February 1966). Two images of wooden carvings and one of a collection of stone artefacts from Talasea, New Britain.
(c) Unknown photographer (5 images, one stamped Oct 67 and four undated). The images are of objects in the SA Museum collection - stone axes, a stone axe head and one showing a mask, a trumpet and a shield from various locations in Papua New Guinea.
(d) Graeme Pretty (1 image, undated). A stone object.

The images appear to be from several different rolls of film (based on processing markings on the slide mounts).
The photographers are not noted on the slides. There is no description on the slides.
(a) 17 colour slides; date-stamped in red "Nov 69 M9". These are all square format slides (27 x 27 mm).
They are all of scenes or people in the PNG Highlands.
(b) 1 colour slide; date-stamped "Sep 66 M9" in black. This is a square format slide (27 x 27 mm).
It shows a scene in the PNG Highlands.
(c) 13 colour slides with black number stamps (lightly stamped), but no date stamps. Probably the Goroka Show, as several slides are of Asaro Mudmen, who are from the Goroka area.
(d) 12 colour slides with red number stamps, but no date stamps. Goroka Show (one image identifies the place name).
(e) 17 colour slides with black number stamps (medium weight stamps), but no date stamps.
Goroka Show - the person in one of the images (numbered 12) is the same as in (d) above (numbered 12 and 13).
(f) 13 colour slides with black number stamps (heavy weight stamps), but no date stamps.
Assume these to be Goroka Show.

Photographs of plates from various publications. Most of these photos were presumably taken by Graeme Pretty; two appear to have been purchased from a museum in Vienna.
The images all depict "Polynesian Art" from various locations in "Polynesia" (islands in the central and southern Pacific Ocean).

63 black and white slides over 4 pages - "Melanesian Art".
These have come from Bridget Jolly, Visual Arts Discipline, Flinders University, Adelaide. There is a short, hand-written note, dated 25 February 1985, that came with the slides and addressed to Graeme Pretty.
There are no descriptions accompanying these slides.
The slides are of "Melanesian Art", including costumes, masks, personal adornment, statues, pottery, shields, buildings and decoration on a boat/canoe.
One slide (numbered 47) is a map of Papua New Guinea and surrounding islands titled "Art Style Provinces of Melanesia", compiled by Graeme Pretty in 1970.
Eight colour slides on 1 page - these were copied by Graeme Pretty in 1972 - the original photographer was Ralph Lawton (AA173), who lived as a missionary on the island of Kiriwina in the Trobriand Islands from 1961 to 1973.
They depict Trobriand Islands beach scenes showing various canoes/boats.
The slides have been moved to the Ralph Lawton collection.

The photographs were taken at the Dental School, University of Adelaide. They were taken to investigate the radio-opacity of Torres Strait red ochre.

One of the slides is labelled "Torres St Mummy Feb 1965".
The subject is a mummified person mounted on a wooden frame, with close-ups of various body joints and the head (13 slides). Five slides are X-ray images of this mummified person.
(d) Six slides. One is a rear-view sketch of a person. The other five are photos of various people, presumably from the Torres Strait, as they are with the "Torres Strait Mummification" group of slides.

The first two slides are maps of the distribution of pottery in "Indo-Oceanien [Indonesia and Oceania]" and "Neu Guinea [New Guinea]".
The remaining seven slides show shapes, styles and decorative patterns of pottery from these regions.
