This vocabulary was recorded by Tindale during his Groote Eylandt (NT) expedition (1921-1922). Along with other vocabularies collected during this expedition, it appears in published form in 'Natives of Groote Eylandt and of the West Coast of the Gulf of Carpentaria. Part III. Languages of Eastern Arnhem Land', Transactions of the Royal Society of South Australia, vol. 52, 1928, pp. 5-27. This Alawa vocabulary contains approximately 435 entries. In addition, there is a page of notes entitled 'Roper names', containing 7 billabong names on the Roper River. An annotation on the front page reads: 'from Bob and Jack Apr 1922'.
