Notes: Pomare a notable rangatira (chief) from the Bay of Islands stands wearing two cloaks: the korowai-ngore (cloak) with black twisted thrumbs on its surface and bottom edge fringing and large red woollen pompoms is worn underneath the kahu kuri (dog skin cloak). He holds a taiaha (long club figting staff). Pomare wears a greenstone (nephrite jade) ear adornment in his right ear and has a moko (traditional Maori facial tattoo). Beneath the kahu kuri is a mere pounamu (greenstone hand club) and behind a beached waka (canoe). Pomare has signed X as his mark.
