Ngadlu tampinthi ngadlu Kaurna Miyurna yartangka. Munaintya puru purruna ngadlu-itya. Munaintyanangku yalaka tarrkarriana tuntarri.

We acknowledge we are on Kaurna Miyurna land. The Dreaming is still living. From the past, in the present, into the future, forever.

  • 'Heuheu's cookhouses. Waitahanui. Taupo.'

Notes:
  • The cooking shed at Orakei pa (fortified village) belongs to the Rangatira (chief) Te Apihau. It is made from wood and the roof is thatched with raupo reed. All cooking was done outdoors. Three women are preparing food for a meal; one of these women stirring a European pot. In the surrounding area are domestic implements such as a kete (basket) of potatoes, ko (digging stick) and gourds for carrying and storing water. The flowering Clematis is in the background.

  • The cook houses belong to Te Heuheu Tukino (Mananui II). The three figures seated outside are wearing cloaks and sit with a number of gourds used for carrying and storing water and a hinaki (eel trap) in the foreground and to the right of the cook house a patua (bark basket).
