Notes: Huiputea Wirihana (Wilson) was a Christian chief of Ngati Mahuta. He stands wrapped in a blanket worn like a cloak and holds in his hands a green prayer book. He has a moko (traditional Maori facial tattoo). Written in light pencil is 'Huiputea Wirihana' and 'A native teacher at Waipa.'
