Notes: Wiremu Tamihana Tarapipipi (William Thompson) was the son of the Waikato chief Te Waharoa. He stands holding a tewhatewha (long handled fighting club) and wearing a korowai-ngore (cloak) with black twisted thrumbs and red woollen stitching that forms a border along its bottom edge and sides. He wears this over a white shirt, has a moko (traditional Maori facial tattoo), and a cluster of blue feathers in his right ear. After his father's death, Tamihana adopted the Christan name Wiremu Tamihana (William Thompson). In later years he strongly supported the Maori king movement and became known as 'Tamihana the King-Maker'. Endorsed by Tarapipipi's signature.
