This series comprises personal correspondence to and from Tindale for the period 1926. A large part of correspondence within this series is between Tindale and the Church Missionary Society (CMS) including Joynt, Lousada, Dyer and Perriman at Roper River and the newly formed Oenpelli Mission at East Alligator River, Oenpelli.
Early interest in the publication of Tindale's language research can be seen in correspondence with Wilhelm Schmidt, Founder of the periodical Anthropos and later Director of the Pontificio Museo Missionario-Ethnologico, Rome.
Tindale's correspondence notes the recent formation of the Anthropological Society of South Australia and makes reference to the Society's founding aims.
Correspondence has been arranged in chronological order.
