Notes that the white crosses in the photograph 348, see page 217, ‘are the graves of converts who had died since the Mission commenced.’ Reference made to the errors and failures of the Jesuit Reductions in Paraguay with inference that the graveyard very small ie not many converts. Recalls that the parent had previously ‘lost two others from the same cause’. Records a few ‘half-caste boys from the mainland’ sent by Dr Cook, live at the Mission.
