Ticketing Terms and Conditions

General terms and conditions for ticketed exhibitions

  • The South Australian Museum (the Museum) aims to provide a safe and inclusive environment for all visitors, staff, volunteers and contractors.

  • All persons entering a ticketed exhibition must present a valid printed or electronic ticket.

  • The Museum may refuse entry to any of its ticketed exhibitions without the presentation of a valid ticket.

  • All admission tickets are valid only for the date/time stated on the ticket.

  • Entry into exhibition spaces will be subject to safety considerations and the capacity of the exhibition space.

  • Unless otherwise specified, tickets are valid for one entry only.

  • All ticket prices are displayed in AUD.

  • Tickets purchased at the Museum box office are available via card payment only; cash is not accepted.

  • A booking or ticket purchase is not confirmed without the full receipt of payment.

  • Valid identification for concession ticket holders must be produced at exhibition entry or prior to purchase where a ticket in purchased in person. Failure to produce valid identification may result in the full payment of admission.

  • Museum Members must show their valid membership card or renewal email when presenting their ticket at the exhibition entry desk to be eligible for any member discounted ticket or promotion.

  • Last entry into an exhibition is recommended at least 45 minutes prior to Museum closing.

    • Requests to enter after that time are at the discretion of exhibition ticketing staff. No discounts will be offered.

  • Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash, gift vouchers or credit notes. 

  • The Museum reserves the right to cancel a ticket and refund the amount paid.

  • Ticket refunds will not be provided due to dislike of an experience or exhibition, or for misalignment of expectations.

  • Lost, stolen or destroyed tickets cannot be replaced or refunded. The Museum accepts no liability for lost, stolen or destroyed tickets.

  • The Museum reserves the right to vary ticket prices, seating arrangements, capacity limits, and add, withdraw or reschedule programs and presenters.

  • The Museum is not responsible for ancillary expenses incurred by the ticket holder in the event the Museum is closed, or any events or exhibitions are closed, cancelled or otherwise unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances.

  • The Museum will request and record personal information necessary for the provision of ticketing services. The collection, use & disclosure, of any personal information is in alignment with Australian Privacy Principles.

  • Exhibition tickets cannot be used for any advertising, promotion, competition or other commercial purposes without the prior authorisation of the Museum.

  • The Museum reserves the right to cancel a ticket without compensation if any of these terms and conditions are considered breached.

  • Tickets to Museum exhibitions may also be subject to any terms and conditions of third-party ticket providers. By purchasing a ticket to a South Australian Museum exhibition or event, you are automatically agreeing to any applicable terms and conditions. Specific Tickets

Member tickets are available to all valid Museum Members along with eligible exclusive offers and discounts. Reciprocal Member benefits will extend to exhibition ticketing only when outlined in their agreement.

Concessions include, but are not limited to Australian issued card holders:

  • Seniors

  • Students

  • Commonwealth Healthcare cards

  • Companion cards

Companion Cards are honoured for a free exhibition ticket at the Museum box office when shown with the purchase of an accompanying ticket.

Child tickets are for age ranges up to 12 years old only.

Student tickets include age ranges 13-17 years with school issued student cards, as well as full-time student cards issued by an Australian tertiary education institution.

Family tickets may include up to 2 adults and up to 3 children aged up to 12 years. All members of the group must enter the exhibition at the same time.

Group tickets are offered at a discounted rate for groups of 10+, when all tickets purchased in the same transaction. This includes tertiary education groups.

School tickets are issued through the Museum’s Access and Learning team and are only available in advance, with payment via invoice issued through Shared Services. Find further information on School Group bookings. Tickets issued as a part of a school group booking are subject to additional terms and conditions.

Nature & Wildlife Photographer Exhibitions ticket deal

Ticket terms and conditions

  • Purchase the Nature & Wildlife Photographer Exhibitions ticket offer to receive entry to the South Australian Museum’s Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition and the Adelaide Botanic Garden’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition

  • To redeem your tickets, simply bring your printed or e-ticket to the Ticket Desk at the Adelaide Botanic Garden and the Information Desk at the South Australian Museum for entry, with valid photo identification.

  • Tickets are valid for one entry at each exhibition between Friday 26 September 2025 and Sunday 1 February 2026 inclusive

  • Not valid for school groups including teachers and other supervisory staff/parents

  • Not available in conjunction with any other offer

  • The discount is only valid for the 'Museum & Botanic Garden’ ticket types

  • This offer is not redeemable for cash

Please note that Adelaide Botanic Garden and the South Australian Museum are cashless venues.
