This film was made during the Board for Anthropological Research (BAR) expedition to Yuendumu, Northern Territory from 20 May - 9 June 1963.
'Aboriginal Hair String' is a final film production documenting the making of hair string. First is shown the industrial manufacture of string in a factory and then using a spinning wheel. The manufacture and uses of human hair string is shown, from processing the raw material, construction and use of the spindle-bobbin, teasing and spinning the thread.
