'Marree'
"A very unique township situated in central Australia on the North South line 200 odd miles north of Quorn. The town is divided into two sections. White (west side of railway) Afghan (east side) and Native (south-east). Here the Afghan Population followed their Muslim teachings and national customs. Here also the camel trains went inland with goods and to them must belong the credit for opening up the far interior. Here also the cattle were trucked for Adelaide from south-west Queensland. I was 7 years in Marree and learnt to like the Afghans."
