This series consists of Tindale's research notes filed in manilla folders and stored in two filing cabinets. A note on the top drawer reads, 'Norman B. Tindale, Hon Associate, Private Research Notes, Anthropology'.

The folders are arranged alphabetically by subject, with some folders unlabelled. Tiles of folders as Tindale labelled them.

The series includes draft manuscripts and working notes on topics relating to physical anthropology and archaeology, copies of published material, personal correspondence, photographs, Australian and overseas travel plans, receipts and additional material relating to expedition journals, professional societies and Tindale's study of the Lepidoptera moth.
