The journal consists of handwritten entries on the right-hand page, and annotations, drawings etc, on the left. The expedition took place from 15 March to 21 April 1966 (pages 3-245). Preparations are detailed on pages 1-3 and pages 246-54 are devoted to entries related to the expedition. There are 198 blank pages commencing from page 352. There is no contents list but the journal contains a detailed index (pages 255-349).
